While living in Arizona, Peter studied with an Indigenous American teacher, an experience that profoundly reshaped his spiritual path. Immersed in nature-based wisdom, he underwent a transformative awakening—one that deepened his connection to the natural world and set the course for his life's work. Inspired by this experience, he returned to Maine in 1999 and began leading ecospiritual journeys and immersive experiences. Over the past twenty-five years, his work has ranged from workshops at conferences and addiction recovery retreats across New England to multi-day expeditions in the North Maine Woods and Acadia National Park. As a Registered Maine Guide, he has spent much of his adult life in the wilderness, guiding others toward deeper connection and personal transformation.
A Zen Buddhist priest and teacher in the White Plum lineage, Peter serves as the guiding teacher for the Wild Fox Sangha, an internet-based Zen practice community. His teaching is deeply engaged with the urgent realities of our time, evolving traditional Zen practice to remain highly relevant in a world grappling with uncertainty, disconnection, and the search for sustainable survival.
With over twenty-five years in the field of addiction treatment, Peter holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor as well as a certified clinical supervisor. While he continues to work part-time in addiction recovery, his primary focus is pioneering ecospiritually-based healing through the Path of the Wild Heart—an approach that integrates deep nature connection with recovery and spiritual growth.
He is the author of Wild Mind, Wild Heart: Discover Your True Self in Nature.
JonScott McClung is a dedicated guide for those seeking transformative healing beyond traditional mental health approaches. Rooted in Zen practice, somatic psychotherapy, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and deep connection with nature, his work helps individuals release suffering—whether from depression, anxiety, addiction, or the trauma of living in a late-stage, profit-driven capitalist system.
His healing journey began in 1993 and, over the next 25 years, he explored conventional approaches only to find them lacking in lasting healing. This disillusionment led him to seek alternative paths. From 2019 to 2022, he apprenticed in psychedelic-assisted therapy, deepening his understanding of its role in healing and transformation.
In 2022, he found the path he had been seeking through his studies with Zen Teacher Peter Wohl of the White Plum lineage. In 2023, he completed Jukai, a formal year-long process of taking the Bodhisattva vows, committing himself to helping others free themselves from suffering. Since then, he has dedicated himself to refining and sharing the process that transformed his life.
With decades of experience in corporate leadership, marriage, and parenthood, JonScott brings humor, authenticity, and compassion to his work. In 2022, he completed Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry course, and in 2024, he completed the two-year comprehensive somatic psychotherapy training with the Hakomi Institute, further deepening his therapeutic skills
Blending ancient wisdom, modern therapeutic insights, and a deep reverence for nature as a healing teacher, JonScott creates safe, intentional spaces where individuals can reconnect with their innate wholeness and experience true renewal.
In addition to his role as a guide, JonScott serves as the Operations Manager for Innate Dharma, assisting you through the application process and the initial stages of the program. He looks forward to supporting you on your journey.
